It is a very happy dining experience. My friend and I ordered a pumpkin soup, a pasta and a pizza. First came the soup which was the best soup I have ever had. The pasta and pizza are very delicious, and the old lady is very kind, she explained the dishes to us patiently. All in all, I think I will come to eat here again if there is a next time.

Whilst looking for somewhere to eat in Colchester we scrolled upon Piccolo, a top-rated restaurant in the area. Service was friendly and the pizza okay, but we were served raw chicken for a Caesar Salad. When I pointed this out to the waiter I received a very unbothered “sorry”. I’d like to point out that we were the only people dining at the time, so no excuse to serve up something raw. Hugely disappointed and showed a lack of remorse for nearly making their customers seriously ill. Go to Ask Italian over the road instead!

Had a fantastic meal here . My daughter and I had scallops Thermidor from the specials board were amazing . The sauce had a real depth to it and really complimented the perfectly cooked scallops . My husband was equally enthusiastic about the mussels he had . For our main course my daughter enjoyed chicken in a lemon butter sauce , I had fresh tuna from the specials board which was cooked extremely well . It was grilled but remained moist . The tomato and olive topping was really lovely and I’m not a huge fan of olives . My husband enjoyed a salmon tagliatelle saying how lovely and light the pasta was . We had planned to pass on dessert but couldn’t resist . The portion sizes were just perfect . The tiramisu was light and tasty , the chocolate ice cream went down well with my daughter and the strawberry pavlova I had was simply delicious . I could smell the strawberries and appreciated the desert wasn’t overloaded with cream or was overly sweet . The service was good too . We felt welcome and kindness was discretely shown to our daughter who has a disability and learning difficulties . We can’t wait to visit again as we loved the food and homely vibe

Terrible service, bland food and expensive. The evening didn't start well with a grumpy welcome followed by a waitress who took ever question as a confrontation. The food, plonked down (my chicken had the right idea and was trying to escape) I could have presented each course better. The side salad looked as tired as the resturant and the starter/ main meal was tastleless. If you're looking for good Italian food...look elsewhere.
